Kelu vs Document360 AI
Last reviewed:
Document360 is a knowledge base platform with AI built in (Eddy AI): AI search with cited answers, a writing agent, an MCP server and llms.txt generation. Its AI Chatbot add-on can also answer from websites, files, FAQs and Zendesk or Freshdesk tickets. Kelu is a standalone AI knowledge assistant that indexes 24 source types (a Document360 site can be one) and answers on a widget, in Slack and Teams bots, over MCP, and inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Front and Linear.
Choose Document360 if you want one platform to write, host and govern a knowledge base, with AI search, a writing agent, MCP and llms.txt built in. Choose Kelu if your docs already live elsewhere or across many tools, and you want one cited assistant over all of them in your widget, Slack, Teams, MCP and helpdesk, with public pricing and a free plan.

Where Kelu focuses differently
Layer on top of your existing docs
If your docs already live somewhere (Mintlify, Docusaurus, GitBook, ReadMe, VitePress, WordPress or a custom site), Kelu indexes them where they are. Document360 is built for writing and hosting your knowledge base in Document360, so adopting it is a migration and hosting decision, not just an AI decision.
Answers on every surface
Document360's AI answers in its knowledge base, embedded widget and chatbot, and its Slack and Teams apps search and share articles. Kelu answers with citations in the widget, in Slack and Teams bots, over MCP, and inside your helpdesk, all from one knowledge base.
Broader source coverage
Beyond help-center articles, Kelu indexes GitHub, Notion, Confluence, Google Drive, OneDrive, Salesforce, Linear, Discourse, Stack Overflow, YouTube, Zendesk tickets and Jira Service Management requests directly, and keeps each one in sync on a schedule. Product docs, internal wikis, community forums and past tickets end up in one knowledge base.
Hybrid retrieval + abstention
Vector-only search can miss exact-match queries such as error codes and SKUs. Kelu combines vector search, full-text search and reranking. When your sources don't cover a question, it says it doesn't know and shows no citations; that gate is enforced in code.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to move to Document360 to use its AI?
For most of it, yes. AI search, the writing agent and the MCP server work on articles in Document360. The AI Chatbot add-on can also answer from websites, files, FAQs and Zendesk or Freshdesk tickets. Kelu indexes your existing site and other sources directly, with no migration.
Can I use Document360 for authoring and Kelu for the assistant?
Yes. Kelu indexes any public docs URL, so it works on Document360-published docs the same way it works on Mintlify, Docusaurus or a custom site. Keep Document360 for writing and hosting, and add Kelu for the assistant, the bots and Support Ticket AI.
How does pricing compare?
Document360 prices by custom quote, based on team accounts, workspaces, languages, security needs and AI usage, and the AI Chatbot is an add-on. Kelu publishes its prices: Free (100 questions a month), Pro at $99 a month or $79 a month billed yearly (1,000 questions, 5 knowledge bases), and Enterprise custom.
How does retrieval quality compare?
Document360 doesn't describe its retrieval in detail. Kelu combines PostgreSQL full-text search and vector search with reciprocal rank fusion, rewrites the query with an LLM before search, and reranks with a cross-encoder. When the sources don't cover a question, Kelu says it doesn't know and shows no citations.
Can I migrate from Document360 AI?
Yes. Point Kelu's website crawler at your published Document360 site, or upload exported articles, then add the widget to your product site. The first sync starts as soon as you add the source.
