Comparison

Kelu vs Scribe

Last reviewed:

Scribe and Kelu often appear together in 'AI for docs' lists, but they solve different jobs. Scribe captures a workflow (screen and clicks) and turns it into a step-by-step guide, and it can pass those guides to AI tools over MCP or its API. Kelu answers questions from your existing docs, wikis and tickets with citations, on every surface (widget, Slack, Teams, MCP, Support Ticket AI). They can work together: Scribe to write SOPs, Kelu to answer questions across them.

Short answer

Choose Scribe if your problem is that processes aren't written down: it records a workflow, turns it into a guide, and can feed those guides to AI tools over MCP. Choose Kelu if your docs exist but people can't get answers from them, and you want cited answers in your widget, Slack, Teams, MCP and helpdesk.

Where Kelu focuses differently

Different jobs, complementary tools

Scribe is best at "capture how I did this and turn it into a documented process". Kelu is best at "answer questions from all our documented processes and docs, with citations, wherever people ask". You can use Scribe to author SOPs, then index the exported guides, or the pages where you embed them, into Kelu so the SOPs become answerable.

Q&A vs SOP authoring

If your problem is "we don't have SOPs written down", Scribe fixes that. If your problem is "we have SOPs but nobody can find the answer in them", Kelu fixes that. The first is a content-creation problem; the second is a retrieval and surface problem.

Every surface, one knowledge base

Kelu answers on your docs widget, in Slack and Teams bots, in your helpdesk (Support Ticket AI) and inside AI tools over MCP. Scribe shares guides as links, embeds and context for AI tools; Kelu answers the question directly where people ask it.

Cited answers across sources

Kelu writes cited answers that can span several guides, docs and tickets. When none of them cover the question, it says it doesn't know and shows no citations, instead of guessing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to choose between Scribe and Kelu?

Usually not. Scribe is for capturing "here's how to do X" as a step-by-step guide; Kelu is for answering "how do I do X?" in a chat with citations. You can use both: Scribe to author, Kelu to answer.

Can Kelu index Scribes?

Yes. Export guides to PDF, HTML or Markdown (available on Scribe's Pro plans) and upload them as files, or point Kelu's website crawler at public pages where you publish or embed them. They become part of the searchable knowledge base.

Does Scribe answer questions like Kelu does?

Scribe's focus is capturing workflows as guides and passing them to AI tools through its MCP server, API and integrations such as Copilot and Slack. Its site doesn't describe a chat assistant for your end users. Kelu is that assistant: it answers with citations that can span several guides and docs.

How does pricing compare?

Both have free plans. Kelu: Free (100 questions a month), Pro at $99 a month or $79 billed yearly (1,000 questions, 5 knowledge bases, 10 team members), Enterprise custom. Scribe prices per seat: Basic is free, Pro Personal is $35 a month ($25 billed yearly), Pro Team is $17 per seat a month ($13 billed yearly, from 5 seats), and Enterprise is custom.

Which should I start with?

If you don't have documentation yet, start with Scribe to capture your key processes. If you have documentation and people can't get answers from it, start with Kelu.
