Kelu vs Zendesk AI
Last reviewed:
Zendesk AI is Zendesk's built-in AI: AI agents that answer customers on messaging, email and voice, and Copilot, which suggests replies to your agents. AI agents come with every Zendesk plan and are billed on resolutions. Kelu is a helpdesk-agnostic knowledge assistant: Support Ticket AI answers tickets in Zendesk (and Intercom, Freshdesk, Front and Linear), and the same knowledge base powers a docs widget, Slack and Teams bots, and an MCP server.
Choose Zendesk AI if all your support runs in Zendesk and you want AI agents on messaging, email and voice plus Copilot for your agents, from one vendor. Choose Kelu if you want one knowledge base that answers Zendesk tickets and also runs your docs widget, Slack and Teams bots and an MCP server, on a flat plan you can test on your own past tickets first.

Where Kelu focuses differently
Not tied to one helpdesk
Zendesk's AI agents and Copilot need a Zendesk plan. Kelu's Support Ticket AI runs inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Front and Linear, so the AI and the knowledge behind it stay if you add or change a helpdesk.
Same knowledge base beyond support
Zendesk AI answers your customers. Kelu answers them in Zendesk too, and the same knowledge base runs your docs widget and Cmd+K search, Slack and Teams bots for your team, and an MCP server for AI coding tools.
Rehearse on your real tickets
Kelu's Simulations answer up to 100 of your most recent resolved Zendesk tickets and show each answer next to what your agent sent, with its confidence. You set the threshold on real data, then start in Draft only.
Flat pricing with public tiers
Zendesk bills AI agents per verified resolution at a rate set with sales, and Copilot per agent. Kelu has flat monthly plans (Free / $99 Pro / Enterprise) with included question quotas and no overage fees.

Frequently asked questions
Can Kelu replace Zendesk AI?
For answering Zendesk tickets from your knowledge base, yes: Kelu's Support Ticket AI replies or leaves private-note drafts, in the Zendesk groups you pick. Zendesk AI covers more inside Zendesk itself, such as voice, AI agents on messaging today, and Copilot actions. If you also use Intercom, Freshdesk, Front or Linear, Kelu covers those with the same knowledge base.
Does Kelu answer Zendesk Messaging chats?
Not yet. Zendesk Messaging support is coming soon. Today Kelu answers Zendesk tickets. For your own support forms, the form deflector (one script tag) answers the question before a ticket is filed.
How does pricing compare?
Zendesk includes AI agents in every Suite and Support plan and bills verified resolutions beyond a monthly allowance, at a rate you agree with sales. Copilot is $50 per agent/month billed yearly. Kelu is flat monthly: Free (100 questions), Pro $99/mo or $79/mo billed yearly (1,000 questions, 5 knowledge bases), Enterprise custom.
Do I need to leave Zendesk to use Kelu?
No. You press Connect Zendesk and Kelu sets up its own webhook and triggers. It can also index your Zendesk Help Center and solved tickets as sources. You keep Zendesk, and the same knowledge base also serves your widget, Slack, Teams and AI coding tools.
How can I compare answer quality?
Run a Kelu simulation on your recent resolved tickets and compare each answer with what your agent sent. Kelu's retrieval combines vector and full-text search, rewrites the query with an LLM and reranks with a cross-encoder, and an abstention gate stops it answering when your sources don't cover the question.
