What Is Support Form Deflection?

Answering a support request inside the contact form, before the ticket is sent, so customers with documented questions get help without waiting for an agent.

The support form is the last step before a ticket, and people typing into it have usually searched and given up. Form deflection uses that moment: when the customer presses submit, an AI assistant reads the question, searches your knowledge base, and shows a cited answer before the ticket is filed.

The customer stays in control. If the answer solves the problem, no ticket is created. If not, they submit as normal and lose nothing. A flow that makes it hard to reach a human isn't deflecting tickets; it is hiding them.

It only works with a confidence gate. A weak answer at the form wastes the customer's time, so good systems show an answer only when it is well grounded, and count both outcomes to keep the deflection rate honest. For more tactics, see how to deflect support tickets.

How Kelu uses this

Kelu's Support Form Deflector attaches to a Zendesk Help Center request form or any HTML form with one script tag, or to a custom form through the API. It uses the same retrieval and abstention gate as chat, and checks the answer against its sources. An answer is offered only above the deflector's confidence threshold (55% by default); otherwise the form submits as normal.
